Save pronounced ‘Saah – v-eh’ sits on the border of Masvingo Province and Manicaland Province. Save River creates a physical border between the two provinces and lends its name to the local village and nearby valley. The Save Valley Conservatory is one of the largest private game reserves in Africa, sitting on 750000 acres of land. Interestingly the conservation area is made up of state-owned, communal and private properties that together make up the Save Wildlife Conservancy. The sheer expanse of the game park means the animals are not confined to areas, are not accustomed to humans and are completely wild. Whilst this makes them hard to observe, it makes guided tours all the more special as one does not know what they will see.
